Recognized by their corporate office in the past 2 years, Winmar Georgian Bay / Muskoka received both bronze and silver awards for “Highest Sales per Capita”. Winmar is a Property Restoration Company specializing in restoration to property primarily as a result of damage by water, fire, wind, etc., they are certified in Level 3 Mould Abatement and Level 3 Asbestos Abatement.

Large Business of the Year Award - Georgian Bay General Hospital Bruce Thompson of Scotiabank presents the award to Bob Barton and Paul Heinrich
Georgian Bay General Hospital was nominated for an award as it had experienced a pivotal year. Following the result of a 16-year journey that was started to meet the changing needs of the community and the changing face of health care, Georgian Bay General Hospital kept pushing forward to the final step in transitioning two corporations to one. Forced to address a projected operating deficit, the goal was achieved by balancing the interests of the entire community putting them even further out front allowing it to begin addressing the working capital debt. In creating a strategic plan, came a new name and vision with the input of the community. “Exceptional care, every person, every time” and “Our Hospital is vibrant, progressive and a partner in inspiring a healthier community."

Community Support Award - Karma Marketplace Maureen Reid of Meridian Credit Union presents the award to Erin Chapelle
Karma Marketplace is committed to providing their customers with local, organic, and fair trade products. Celebrating an incredible first season, Erin Chapelle successfully established 30 local farmers, artisans and community groups to participate for 19 weeks in a local community market. With so many other projects involvement, Erin believes that connecting the social dots is a benefit for everyone involved – there truly is strength in numbers. Their mission is “To provide, nurture, and support community development and social innovation”. Investment in our citizens, our environment, and ourselves now, guarantees a rich and vibrant social fabric for the future.

Ambassador Award - Ontario Marine Operators Association Kelly Vout of National Bank presents the award to Al Donaldson
The Ontario Marine Operators Association is the largest recreational marine trade association in Canada. They represent a large number of marinas throughout the Province of Ontario and more specifically in the Georgian Bay area. The Ontario Marine Operators Association plays a key role in this sector of our economy and brings awareness to our region as the best boating destination in Ontario if not North America. The Ontario Marine Operators Association was nominated for their support of the marina industry and the establishment of environmentally sound practices which protect our waterways for all to enjoy.

Southern Georgian Bay is promoted through Wildfire Outdoor Education Centre through conferences, marketing media and established ties to school boards and interest groups throughout the province and internationally by promoting their programs to new and existing clients. Wildfire continues to develop partnerships and seek markets overseas to promote, not only their education centre, but local businesses, communities and services to showcase Southern Georgian Bay to the world.
